Mr. Cliffard Whitby is a lifelong resident of Macon, Georgia. He is married to Dr. Shantel Whitby and he has three daughters. An active member in the community, he has supported numerous local programs and institutions such as The Museum of Arts and Science, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Tubman Museum etc. As a member of 100 Black Men of Macon- Middle Georgia, Inc. since 1996, he has been involved in key programs of the organization such as, Project Reach and Rites of Passage, aimed at educating and helping adolescents in their transition to young adults. He recently was elected President of 100 Black Men of Macon - Middle Georgia, Inc. chapter.
Educated in the Bibb County Public School System, he completed his high school education at Southwest High School and remains a supportive alumnus. He is the President and C.E.O of Whitby Inc. which develops commercial and residential properties. The company's past achievements include collaborating with the City of Macon and Department of Housing and Urban Development to develop and revitalize established neighborhoods. Additionally, Whitby Inc. has done significant commercial development in the Macon community.
Among Mr. Whitby’s other commitments is his membership to the Star Choices Inc. Executive Board of Directors and Big Brothers/Big Sisters Executive Board of Advisors. Furthermore, he is a member and sitting Chairman of the Macon - Bibb County Industrial Authority.
His future goals include expanding support for programs targeting youth development.
“It has been my long held belief that African American community leaders hold the primary responsibility in aiding the development of their communities. I see 100 Black Men of Macon - Middle Georgia, Inc. as trying to accomplish just that. This mission is what distinguishes this organization from all others that I am a part of and what continues to command my commitment to the goals set fourth by our charter”.
